Thank you very much for volunteering to evaluate the beta-version of the Lipid Structures application!

This application identifies lipid names or synonyms in an online article and links them in the text, providing the reader with supporting information on that particular lipid in an overlay window which displays the structure and other key information for that molecule as represented on the LIPID MAPS website (http://www.lipidmaps.org/). Information includes common and systematic names, formula, exact mass, InChIKey, classification hierarchy and links to other public databases.

In order to improve the Lipid Structures application, we would like to know your opinion about the current beta-version available on ScienceDirect.

Accessing the application

To access the beta-version of the Lipid Structures application, please first login to ScienceDirect (www.sciencedirect.com) using the following test account:

username: lipidmaps
password: Elsevier1

When prompted, please select "ScienceDirect for External Agencies, Temporal Access" (see below).

After you login, please open any of the two article examples listed below in the same browser window:

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166223611001391

http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.chroma.2007.03.009
http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.bbalip.2011.11.001

You should now see the Lipids Structures application displayed in the right sidebar below the "Related articles" panel. If you don't see the application in the right sidebar, please visit the application webpage at: http://www.applications.sciverse.com/action/appDetail/298647 and add the Lipid Structures application manually (as it is shown below).

As soon as you have the application added, you should be able see to the Lipids Structures panel in the right pane, when any of the example articles is open in your web browser (please do not forget to refresh the article webpage after you added the app).

Instructions for testing

Please spend 15-20 min free exploring the beta-version of the Lipids Structures application.

You may use example articles (i.e., http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166223611001391, http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.bbalip.2011.11.001 and http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.chroma.2007.03.009) for evaluation. Or you may also decide to search for other relevant articles e.g. by typing key words in the search box on top of the article page (as it is shown below).

When testing the application please focus on both quality of the functionality provided and easiness to use.

Post-test questionnaire

Please fill in our online pos-test questionnaire available at: http://www.lexisnexis.com/dpartner/process.asp?qs_id=7468  (this will take approximately 5 min)
